HMD Global presented a delightfully nostalgic phone at Mobile World Congress 2018, but in an updated look. Lead actor Neo from the famous 1999 Matrix movie was way ahead of his time and called with and beautiful Nokia 8110. In 2018, it was time for this new sliderphone, this time in a brightly coloured jacket and with 4G support!

You have the choice of a black or yellow model and the device especially in the latter colour reminds you of a banana. However, the feature phone does have some smartphone functions. It is possible to install and use certain apps, including Google Maps, Twitter or Facebook.

Slider and physical keys

The Nokia 8110 4G is a so-called sliderphone, with the physical keys only becoming visible if you slide down the cover. This way, you can quickly enter text or numbers, and if you slide the cover down, you can also answer a call; Matrix style. All in all, it's the best of both worlds.

Processor and install apps

This banana phone has 512MB of RAM on board and comes with 4GB of storage space. You can install some apps on it yourself, where you can think of Google Assistant, Maps or Facebook. Of course, the wonderful game Snake is also present again on the device, which we also saw on the updated 3310 of 2017.

4G support

There is support for 4G present, so you can use the simple browser just to look up some info from the internet and calling via 4G is also possible, provided the provider supports it. You also have the option of using Whatsapp. So you are always connected with this smart featurephone!

Display of 2.4 inches

Of course, you have to remember that this Nokia 8110 4G is not a smartphone, so there is no touchscreen. The display has a diagonal of 2.4 inches and a resolution of 320x240. Thanks to this resolution, you can still see enough information from, for example, the internet or apps you are using.

Large battery

The battery has a capacity of 1500mAh and that is for this size, with this hardware and with KaiOS an ideal combination. So it is possible to use the device for 25 days in standby when the battery is fully charged.

Entertainment: camera and FM radio

The 8110 is equipped with an FM radio, so that you can always enjoy your favourite radio station. There is also a 2-megapixel camera, enough for simple snapshots. These can, of course, be viewed on the 2.4 inch screen.
