It finally happened on October 9th! Google announced the much-anticipated successor to the Google Pixel 2 XL: the Google Pixel 3 XL. This powerhouse comes with every positive feature of the 2 XL, and adds several others!

The device still comes fitted with the amazing Pixel 2 XL camera, which was awarded the best smartphone camera of 2017/2018 by the public. The phone has a bigger screen with smaller bezels, renewed hardware, and a new colour: Pink!

Excellent single camera

The Pixel 3 XL only features a single camera, while most high-end phones feature two or even three cameras on the back. Google doesn't that; they manage to deliver better pictures with only one sensor and lens.

So how does Google do this? It's mostly due to Google's strong software. Thanks to Google's strong software, the Pixel 3 XL knows how to adjust pictures by using artificial intelligence. This means that features like the bokeh effect are still possible.

New design

The front of the Pixel 3 XL looks slightly different than its predecessor's; a notch has been added to the top of the screen. The display continues up, past the notch, to the top of the device. The notch contains a dual front-facing camera, a speaker, and several sensors.

Large screen

The screen has gotten a little bigger. The 6.7-inch screen covers about 90% of the front of the device. The OLED screen comes with a 2960x1440 pixels resolution, which is pin-sharp!

The screen is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5, so it remains scratch-free for a long time. Thanks to the OLED technology a small part of the screen can always be turned on, the so-called Always On screen. You can check the time here, and it barely uses power!

Powerful hardware

The phone uses the very best 2018 processor to support the large screen and camera: the Snapdragon 845. This powerhouse processor and 6GB of RAM make sure the device runs smoothly at all times, no matter what you're doing.

Android 9.0

The Pixel 3 XL was designed by Google itself, so Android 9.0 was developed with this device in mind. You can be sure the device is very quick and easy to use thanks to Android 9.0.

The phone is one of the very first to run on Android 9 out of the box. This version of Android is even better than its predecessor, especially in terms of ease of use. Your favourite applications can be downloaded directly in the Google Play Store.
